Lovejoy Helps Ducks Be Victorious Over Sharks in OT

The Ducks sported a mostly opening night roster when they played San Jose for the first time in pre-season on Friday night.   Despite that, they still needed overtime to come out victorious over the Sharks.

The game was back and forth all night long.  First Tomas Hertl scored for San Jose at 14:48 of the first period.    Emerson Etem tied up the game at 2:48 of the second frame.  Tyler Kennedy got a short handed goal later in the period to give the Sharks the lead once more.

Corey Perry scored at 16:01of the second to make it 2-2, which is how things remained at the end of regulation.

Defenseman Ben Lovejoy did not let the extra period go on long, scoring at 2:48 and finishing things off at 3-2.

Viktor Fasth remained in the net the entire game for Anaheim, and stopped 24 shots.

The Ducks now will take their two game winning streak back home when they face Colorado a second time on Sunday afternoon at the Honda Center.

In other notes:

Etem left the game after a second period collision with Raffi Torres.  He returned to the ice for one shift before going to the locker room.    Sami Vatanen also suffered a lower body injury, playing a mere 4:50 in the game.    Further updates were unavailable.
