Free is good and when it is free hockey, it is even better.
The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings are going to be holding two free games between their rookies and prospects in September.
On Saturday, September 7, what is billed as the SoCal Hockey Futures Game will be played at the Honda Center. Doors open at 5:00pm and parking and admission are free. Game starts at 6:00pm.
Following the game, which will be a full 60 minute tilt, there will be autograph session open to everyone.
There will also be a game on Monday, September 9, in El Segundo at the Toyota Sports Center at 6:00pm.
The games will be taking place during Anaheim's and Los Angeles' rookie training camp, which is scheduled for Sept. 4-9. The schedule and a complete roster will be announced next week. Training camp is free.
Ducks prospects expected to be on the roster include the club’s last three first round picks, defensemen Shea Theodore and Hampus Lindholm, right wing Rickard Rakell and goaltender John Gibson.
The Ducks will begin their main training camp on September 11. Depending on how these prospects perform will determine whether or not they get an invite to stick around and play with the big boys.
